Training company QA today announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Green Project Management Ltd to deliver a range of sustainable project management courses. QA says the Green Project Management courses put sustainability at the heart of the project management design process and will help project managers consider sustainability in all aspects of project or programme delivery. Regional mediation pilot scheme launched

The latest steps in reforms to the employment tribunal system were unveiled by employment relations minister Edward Davey today with the announcement of a pilot scheme for two regional mediation networks for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Cambridge and Manchester will be the first regional mediation networks where the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills will fund mediation training for employees from a group of 24 SMEs in each of the pilot areas later this year. Chartered Institute of Marketing launches skills diagnostics

The Chartered Institute of Marketing has launched a set of diagnostic tools to help identify marketers' skill gaps and help prioritise personal development. The diagnostic tools are designed to provide qualitative information about marketing and sales professionals' strengths and weaknesses based on technical competencies. (20 January 2012)

Institute of Leadership & Management announces new CEO

The Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive, Charles Elvin. Elvin joins the ILM on Monday 6 February 2012 from the Open University where he was the Director of the Business to Business Division. (19 January 2012)

One week to go to Learning Technologies 2012 and Learning and Skills 2012

There's just one week to go to Learning and Skills 2012 and Learning Technologies 2012. The organisational learning event is taking place at London Olympia next Wednesday and Thursday, January 25 and 26 and over 5,000 L&D professionals are expected to attend. (18 January 2012)

2012 Best Factory Awards open for entries

Cranfield School of Management has launched the 2012 Best Factory Awards, its nationwide search to find the best manufacturers in Britain. The thirteen award categories include People Management, Skills Development, Health & Safety as well as the overall prize of Best Factory of the Year. (17 January 2012)

Failure to fully tap into workforce skills is holding back UK productivity, says report

In the wake of the Chancellor's plans to make the skills system more responsive to employers, a report published by The Work Foundation argues that skills shortages are only part of the problem. The report suggests that a failure to address the under-utilisation of skills, especially at the lower end of the labour market, constitutes a barrier to both social mobility and the competitiveness of the UK economy.
