Sign language provider Signature marks 30th anniversary
Signature, a provider of British Sign Language (BSL) qualifications, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The charity, which started in 1982, has helped over 300,000 people from across the UK to achieve Signature BSL or Deaf Awareness qualifications. (14 May 2012)

London Ambulance Service selects top talent with custom-built assessmentLondon Ambulance Service is using assessments from Talent Q to help select high potential participants for its talent management programme. The selected participants, who undertake the two-year programme in addition to their regular work, learn more about the different roles and functions of the Service, undertake strategic projects and receive one-to-one mentoring support from a director or deputy director.
IDM launches search marketing and social media qualificationsThe Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM) has launched two new qualifications: the IDM Award in Search Marketing and the IDM Award in Social Media. The IDM says the new qualifications have been introduced to help address significant skills gaps amongst marketers in these areas.
Maven achieves accreditation renewal to deliver APM qualificationsMaven has announced that re-assessment of its project management courses, carried out by APM (Association for Project Management) as part of the five year re-assessment programme, has been successful. Maven's trainers, course materials and delivery met APM standards and it is permitted to continue delivering APM Introductory Certificate, APMP and APMP for PRINCE2 courses and examinations.
IT and telecoms Higher Level Apprenticeships launchedAn Open University and Capgemini UK Higher Apprentices (HAs) project launched last week (17th April) has already been so successful that it is expanding. The London launch event introduced the first intake of 32 Higher Apprentices (HAs) to the five-year training scheme that they will begin next month, on which they will study for The OU's IT Practice Honours Degree while working at international IT services company Capgemini UK.
Online training firm receives Queen's Award for EnterpriseMind Tools, whose UK base is in West Sussex, has been awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise for its achievements in International Trade. The online training firm offers over 1,000 online leadership, management and career development resources to clients around the world. Last year more than 80% of the company's sales came from overseas.
Prime minister visits System TrainingPrime minister David Cameron visited System Training's headquarters in Carlisle today and met some of System Training's motor vehicle apprentices. The prime minister also spoke with Eddie Stobart logistics apprentices – part of a industry coalition where System Training has partnered with the well-known logistics provider to deliver an apprenticeship programme.
