Appointments

GTSLearning's MD joins CompTIA Board

GTSLearning's managing director, Robin Adda, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), based in Chicago.

"I am very pleased with Robin's nomination to the Board of CompTIA", said John Venator, president and CEO of CompTIA. "I have worked with Robin and GTSLearning since 1997 to help expand the CompTIA certification and the IT Skills workforce across international regions. We welcome Robin and we are sure that he will provide a great contribution to our interests both overseas and at home."

The Board of CompTIA includes representatives from DHL, Symantec, Techdata and Xerox. Holding the only overseas position on the Board, Adda will help represent the international learning community.

"I am delighted to have been selected for a Board position with CompTIA", said Adda. "The international adoption of these skills-based qualifications takes a great deal of time and energy, and this new position will help to unite the combined energies of CompTIA both in the US and internationally through increased representation and promotion.

"GTSLearning has sponsored a number of CompTIA certifications as a CompTIA Cornerstone Partner and has always supported the international cause for CompTIA. Having previously served as a Board Member of the Technology Learning Group when it was the IT Training Association, I look forward to this new challenge."

Blair joins ASTD

Daniel Blair has joined the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) to lead its Learning Executives Network. Blair comes to ASTD after 20 years with Hewlett-Packard Company.

The ASTD said that Blair will engage senior-level learning and performance professionals in the ASTD community. Currently, many senior practitioners volunteer and participate in ASTD offerings through activities such as benchmarking learning investments and practices, advising on public policy initiatives, serving as authors and presenters, or providing knowledge in key content areas.

"With several thousand learning executives as part of ASTD's worldwide community, the creation of the Learning Executives Network formalises an existing ASTD strategic direction," said Tony Bingham, ASTD president and CEO. "Daniel's expertise in learning and performance, combined with his keen understanding of the needs of learning executives, is an opportunity for ASTD to provide an even greater level of service to this community. This is an important part of ASTD's leadership in the field."
