In the Trainer of the Year category, four Medalists were named:
The Medallists will progress to a final judging day the week of 13 September, with winners announced at a dinner ceremony on 19 October at the Hilton Park Lane in London. Now in its second year, the BCS IT Professional Awards set out to recognise excellence, professionalism and innovation among IT professionals in the UK. "We sometimes forget that what really makes Britain competitive in the world economy are exceptionally bright, hard-working people," said David Clarke, Chief Executive of the BCS. "The Individual Excellence Awards are some of the most eagerly anticipated of the IT Professional Awards. This year has been one of the most competitive ever, with an overwhelming number of entrants. It was a difficult choice, but the list has been honed down to a group of individuals who, regardless of whether or not they win, represent some of the best talent in the country today." Medallists for this year's Individual Excellence Awards are: Business Analyst of the Year

Women in IT Medallists These awards recognise British organisations for promoting opportunities for women in the IT industry. The Medallists for this category are:
The Women in IT Award forms a new category in this year's BCS IT Professional Awards. Women currently form 20% (e-Skills UK, February 2004) of the UK's IT workforce and hold many leadership positions. However, the number of women in the industry has declined in recent years, deterred by factors such as IT's technical image, long working hours and the lack of tax breaks for childcare in the UK. "Many women today are playing critical roles in the UK IT industry, but there are increasingly fewer of them, which is worrying," said Wendy Hall, President of the BCS. "This award is all about encouraging companies in the UK to foster an atmosphere that enables women to develop their IT skills and careers, and at the same time inspire more women to step forward into the profession."
