Home > News > October 2004 > 28-Oct-2004 Brandon Hall e-learning award winners announcedThe winners of the tenth annual Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Awards were announced at a ceremony held last week. A record number of 254 entries were received for this year's awards programme which showcases exceptional work in the e-learning industry. "The winning entries this year show that innovation in our field is continuing at full speed. The winners are excellent both in terms of creativity and range of application," said Brandon Hall, Ph.D., CEO of brandon-hall.com and chairman of the awards program. "These winners are the new cutting edge." The entries were reviewed by 482 independent judges with expertise in instructional design, online learning, and organisational change. Numerical ratings based on specific criteria were averaged to determine each entry's ranking. This year, a total of 72 winners were selected from among three categories - Outstanding Learning Programs and Initiatives, Innovative Technology, and Custom Content. Winners received a Gold, Silver, or Bronze award. Outstanding Learning Programs and Initiatives Taking top honors - Gold awards - in the category of Outstanding Learning Programs and Initiatives were Applied Global University, Applied Materials; Bell Canada Enterprises; Cisco Systems Inc. Worldwide Sales Support; IBM; Raytheon Company; and Tibbett & Britten Group. Innovative Technology For the Innovative Technology category, the Gold award winners were Centra Software; Giunti Interactive Labs; IBM; KnowledgeXtensions Inc.; and Q2Learning LLC. Custom Content The Custom Content category traditionally receives the most entries, and this year was no exception, with a record 143 entries in the category. The Custom Content category was divided into four subcategories: Interactivity, Use of Media, Simulation, and Full Course. Walking away with the Gold awards in the Custom Content Interactivity subcategory were Cooperative Program for Operational Meteorology, Education and Training (COMET®) and Hong Kong Police Force. Winning Gold awards in the Custom Content Use of Media subcategory were No Limits Interactive Inc. and Type A and Walgreens. Taking the Gold in the Custom Content Simulation subcategory was Convergys and Cisco. The Gold award winners in the Custom Content Full Course subcategory were Ardent Learning; Avon Products Inc. and SSE; Kforce Professional Staffing; Knowledge Anywhere Inc.; NogginLabs Inc./Performance Potential Inc./Dale Carnegie Dale; Ontario Workplace Safety & Insurance Board; Option Six and Krispy Kreme; and The Home Depot and Macquarium Inc.
