Home > News > April 2005 > 01-Apr-2005 London Excellence Awards launchedA new awards scheme has been launched to recognise London organisations and individuals for improvements they have made in their workplace as a result of best practice. The London Excellence Awards were launched to a 100-strong business audience at the House of Commons by MP Barry Sheerman, Chairman of the Education and Skills Select Committee. He praised the work of London Excellence, which has set up the scheme, highlighting the pragmatic approach the organisation takes in encouraging businesses and employers to engage in leadership and management activity. Ten awards will be given to companies demonstrating excellence in everything from results, leadership and management systems to people development and corporate social responsibility. Two Blue Riband awards will go to the organisation and individual judged to be the highest achieving. The awards ceremony, with keynote speaker Sir Digby Jones, Director-General of the CBI, will take place on 25th July 2005. Caroline Buttery, Chairman of London Excellence said: "The London Excellence Awards will encourage organisations from all sectors and of all sizes to celebrate what they do well and be judged against their peers."
