BroadSkill receives Gold Award for Payroll Giving

Freelance trainer supplier BroadSkill has received a Gold Quality Mark Award for Payroll Giving.

The company is one of only 100 organisations to receive the award, which was granted in recognition of its role in fostering a culture of committed giving in the workplace.

Launched in January 2006, the Payroll Giving Quality Mark aims to provide sustainable income sources for UK charities by increasing participation in Payroll Giving. The Quality Mark comprises a certificate and logo, as well as Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

Paul Goggins, home office charities minister, said: "Payroll Giving is an important and reliable source of revenue for charities that is quick and easy to set up and run, and gives businesses the chance to connect with their local community.

"By donating money straight from their salary, employees can make a regular, tax-efficient commitment to their favourite good cause."

Chester-based BroadSkill is familiar with the culture of charitable donations as a provider of IT systems to Charities Trust, which processes Payroll Giving for many organisations across the UK.

Stephen Fletcher, Managing Director at BroadSkill said: "We instituted Payroll Giving some years ago, encouraged by what we had seen in our work with Charities Trust. I think this new award is an excellent idea, especially if it encourages other organisations to follow suit. In particular, it highlights the generosity of our staff, of which I am exceptionally proud.'

Gold Award winning organisations qualify by achieving 10% employee take-up of Payroll Giving and support the scheme by matching donations, covering the administrative costs or by actively promoting the scheme to staff each year.

The Payroll Giving Quality Mark is funded by the government, administered and promoted by the Institute of Fundraising, with support from Business in the Community.
