Susan Anderson, CBI director of HR Policy and member of the Human Capital Awards judging panel, said: "The quality of entries to these new awards has truly impressed the judges. The practices and initiatives we have seen, together with their results, show that this new measure of excellence has clearly not come before time. "The shortlist features those businesses and organisations who, through investment and innovation, have developed a truly outstanding approach to people management. For anyone who doubts the real benefits of such commitment, simply look to these companies' results and the proof is there in black and white. "With mounting global pressures, the future of the UK economy rests largely on how we unlock the value in our people. Our shortlist shows that those who rise to this challenge, large or small, public or private, are prospering." The shortlisted companies across the seven categories are as follows: Education Skills and Leadership (supported by The Working Manager)
The People's Organisation (supported by Investors in People)
Innovative Ways of Working (supported by Orange)
Service (supported by Britannia Building Society)
Managing Change (supported by Ashton Penney)
Growing Business (supported by AXA UK)
Global Achievement (supported by Harvey Nash)
The Human Capital Awards winners will be announced at the awards gala dinner on Thursday 19 October at the London Hilton on Park Lane, where the Rt. Hon John Hutton MP, secretary of state for work and pensions, will give the keynote speech.
