GoSkills launches 2007 passenger transport awards

GoSkills, the sector skills council for passenger transport, is calling on sector employers to nominate staff for its 2007 awards.

The awards will feature two separate award elements - Apprenticeships and Achiever of the Year. The Apprenticeships category contains the following five frameworks:

  • Rail Engineering
  • Rail Operations
  • Aviation
  • Road Passenger Transport (Bus and Coach)
  • Transport Engineering and Maintenance (Bus and Coach)

New for this year – Achiever of the Year – features three nomination categories:

  • NVQ/SVQ Achiever of the Year
  • Management Achiever of the Year
  • Basic Skills Achiever of the Year

Peter Huntington, GoSkills' chief executive, said: "It is important that we celebrate publicly the successes of learners and employers in the Sector.

"With the Leitch Review highlighting the enormous challenges the UK skills system faces now and in the future, we have a great opportunity to raise awareness of the commitment to training and excellence in the Sector and increase the profile of the passenger transport sector generally."

The awards will take place on 1 November 2007 at the home of Chelsea Football Club.
