Home > News > September 2007 > 25 September 2007 Short-list announced for 2007 QIA STAR AwardsThe judging panel for the 2007 QIA STAR Awards has whittled down the nominations to a short list of just over 100 nominees across ten prize categories. The awards aim to recognise and reward the unsung heroes of the learning and skills sector. This year's shortlisted nominees come from a variety of workplaces including FE colleges, sixth form colleges, adult and community learning centres, voluntary and community organisations, and work-based learning and offender learning providers. The 2007 QIA STAR Award categories are:
Andrew Thomson, QIA's chief executive said: "The shortlisted nominees exemplify the breadth and diversity of the sector and are individuals who have worked above and beyond the call of duty, truly exceeding expectations. These people provide the skills needed to develop our workforce and drive our economic success nationwide. And I know they will, rightly, feel valued to have been identified as Stars." A series of regional events will be held in London, Birmingham and Newcastle for shortlisted nominees in October, and the overall category winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London on Monday 26 November 2007.
