Yorkshire and the Humber's National Training Award winners

Three organisations and individuals from Yorkshire and the Humber won National Training Awards at a ceremony held in Leeds.

CragRats Ltd (in partnership with Rok Plc), Anne Brammer, and Pride of Bridlington received their golden envelopes containing an invitation to the UK gala ceremony in central London in December from sports commentator and former British hurdles champion Colin Jackson.

Six Yorkshire and the Humber Training Awards and eight Highly Commended Awards were also made at the ceremony which was held in Leeds Town Hall.

UK Skills Chief Executive, Jacqui Henderson, said the winners had shown the impact that carefully planned training could have when it was aimed at meeting specific organisational needs.

She said: "Each of them have a wonderful story to tell about the specific benefits that their training has brought them. Increased productivity, reduced waste, improved customer satisfaction and increased sales. They really do demonstrate that targeted training can boost a business’ bottom line.

"The individual winners provide a range of wonderful examples of the benefits that a personal investment in training can have. They’ve achieved goals – discovered new ambitions – gained self-confidence and make a significant contribution to their communities."

The National Training Awards were created to celebrate businesses, organisations and individuals that achieve outstanding success through training and development. The awards are sponsored by City & Guilds.

The chair of the Yorkshire and the Humber judging panel, John Robertshaw, said: "My congratulations to all the winners from Yorkshire and the Humber. Their achievements are something we can all feel proud of and I trust their success and subsequent case studies will inspire others to enter next year’s awards. The panel was encouraged by the high quality and the numbers of entries received this year."
