Home > News > January 2008 > 21 January 2008 Utility company wins graduate training awardRWE npower has received an award from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) for the training it provides for its engineers. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers carried out an assessment of RWE npower's training scheme before judging that the company met the highest level of training for graduate engineers. Engineering graduates at the company follow a four-year training programme designed to help them achieve Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Mike Evans, director of engineering at RWE npower, said: "We are delighted to have received this award from the IMechE. It is a true reflection of our commitment to the professional training and development of all our engineers. We have developed a practical and highly focused programme which allows our graduates to develop into skilled professionals." IMechE regional manager, Alan King, presented RWE npower with the award. He said: "RWE npower has some tremendous examples of first class engineering. The recognition of RWE npower's outstanding programme shows just how strong some of our engineering companies are."
