Home > News > March 2008 > 27 March 2008 Broadcasters urged to enter NTA sector awardBroadcast companies have until April 25th 2008 to enter this year's Broadcast Category of the National Training Awards (NTA). Last year saw the launch of a National Training Award dedicated to the broadcast sector. Established by the Broadcast Training & Skills Regulator (BTSR), Skillset, and Ofcom in association with UK Skills, it is designed to highlight the importance of employee development within the industry. The award attracted entries from a range of broadcast disciplines and resulted in a National Training Award for ITV, whilst also recognising smaller operations like KMFM, the Kent-based radio station. Peter Block, executive director at BTSR, said: "Before 2007, any broadcaster wishing to highlight its commitment to investing in people - and as such positioning itself as a forward thinking enterprise with a competitive edge - was considered for an NTA alongside businesses from sectors ranging from hospitality and automotive, to financial. "Now though, thanks to the NTA Broadcast Sector award, those companies can be considered against their audiovisual peers - plus the presentation ceremony acts as a great networking occasion and a breeding ground for innovative training ideas. I would strongly encourage broadcast companies to enter." Up to three Broadcast Sector winners - one Small (1-49 staff), one Medium (50-249) and one Large (250+) Employer - may be put forward by the BTSR for consideration in the national NTA finals taking place in December. Companies can enter by visiting the National Training Awards website, downloading an 'Employer' Entry Form and registering their intention to enter the Broadcast Category by ticking the appropriate 'Sector' box.
