Adrian Snook, Director of Corporate Development explains: "Every year a large number of freelance trainers and private individuals enhance their employability by achieving certification through our Certified e-Learning Professional (CeLP) and Trainer Assessment Programme (TAP) courses. To date the burden of meeting the associated costs has usually fallen directly on these individual prior to the course commencement date. Whilst this up-front investment is undoubtedly worthwhile, the short-term impact on personal cash flow can be significant. " "Whilst most courses operated by The Training Foundation are short-course programmes of no more than five days duration, learners typically achieve the TAP Diploma in Learning Facilitation Skills or the CeLP Diploma in e-Learning over an elapsed period of around a year. Individuals enrolling on courses with a view to achieving either of these qualifications are therefore likely to find the Career Development Loan (CDL) scheme of special interest." "Career Development Loans are available through a partnership arrangement between the Department for Education & Skills (DfES) and three high street banks This makes it possible for learners to apply to borrow between £300 and £8,000 from Barclays Bank, The Co-operative Bank or The Royal Bank of Scotland to help fund their courses. The DfES pays the interest on the loan for the period of CDL-supported learning and for up to one month afterwards. Learners can then repay the loan to the bank over an agreed period of between 13 and 60 months at a fixed rate of interest." Individuals seeking further information about the The Career Development Loan (CDL) scheme should contact the CDL Information Line on Freephone 0800 585 505 (Open 8.00am to 10.00pm seven days a week apart from Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Years Day.)
