The certificate is suitable for anyone involved in IT projects or new to project management wishing to achieve a grounding in the fundamentals of the subject. Upon completion, the certificate will provide visible evidence that candidates understand the principles of project management including project planning; monitoring and control; change control and configuration management; effort estimation; quality and risk management and communication between stakeholders. Steve Causer, ISEB Product Manager, from the BCS explains the need for this new qualification: "As the ability to identify and implement change efficiently becomes increasingly important to all commercial organisations, companies are focusing on better project management to implement successful IT infrastructure system changes. "A vital step in growing their project management capability is the training and qualification of their project managers as professionals, and realising that other parts of the organisation need an understanding and awareness of the project management function. The ISEB Foundation Certificate in Project Management has been developed to meet this need." There are no prerequisites for taking the certificate, although a basic working knowledge of IT is essential and it is recommended that candidates attend a suitable ISEB training course with one of the accredited training providers to prepare for the one hour multi-choice examination.
