Roffey Park to run advanced programme for experienced facilitators

Roffey Park, the executive education and research organisation, is running a five-day development programme to help experienced facilitators enhance their impact, competence and confidence, on 8-12 November 2004.

Called The Art of Facilitation, the programme is designed to help participants to work closely with other facilitators, learn new techniques and approaches, review their personal style and gain a practical understanding of group dynamics.

"Facilitation is a key skill set for managers, consultants and professionals," said Roffey Park’s Helena Clayton, a facilitation expert and Director of the programme. "Teams, groups and organisations are increasingly using facilitators to ease the process of working together in order to make collective decisions, generate ideas or build commitment. Experienced facilitators need to keep abreast of the latest developments and this programme covers new thinking which will give you the skills and confidence to work with a wide range of situations and client groups."

Featuring extensive skills practice, the programme covers the nature of facilitation, the advanced facilitator’s role, the organisational context and the skills and attributes needed to be effective, as well as the latest approaches and interventions. It includes specific sessions on ways of intervening in groups, handling conflict, Gestalt, graphic facilitation, large group interventions and Open Space Technology.

Before the programme, participants get to assess their own practice as a facilitator using a guide produced by Roffey Park.
