According to a recent survey by KIT eLearning, the eLearning partner of the University of Liverpool, more than 60% of companies do not offer a formal training programme to their employees. Paradoxically, as the job market becomes increasingly competitive professionals are prepared to invest their own time and money to ensure their career prospects and 50% say they are prepared to pay for their own MBA. Even those who are sponsored by their company would still be willing to pay for the qualification themselves if they did not have corporate funding. Over 50% of professionals who undertake an MBA do so to advance their career and two in five view a postgraduate qualification as a way of changing career course. "An online course such as those offered by KIT is one of the most flexible and affordable ways to extend your skill base", said Eli Zybert, CEO of KIT eLearning. "We would also recommend that if you are considering undertaking an MBA or MSc it is still worthwhile discussing it with your employer. Many of our students have secured individual financial backing from their company. "If they value you as a member of staff they may be prepared to at least part invest in your qualification, especially as they will be able to directly benefit from your improved skills and understanding. For those companies who can not afford to subsidise the cost of fees, they can often help by offering their employees time and will allow you to dedicate a sections of the working week to study and personal development - after all it is worth the compromise if they are to retain you in the long run."
