Adult Learning Inspectorate launches new quality awards

The Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) has launched a series of professional awards for Quality Management.

The new ALI Quality Champions programme aims to reward individuals’ work in quality improvement and provide them with an opportunity to gain a recognised vocational qualification at the same time.

The ALI say that successful candidates will gain a level 4 NVQ in Quality Management and be recognised as an ALI Quality Champion, accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. The awards are designed to be flexible and fit around existing work and there is a choice of assessment methods based on the candidates’ everyday work tasks.

Would-be champions will be supported by the ALI’s Excalibur learning network, and will have access to a dedicated Quality Champions area on the ALI’s website. Candidates will also be given a telephone helpline to contact an advisor at the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

The ALI have identified potential candidates for the award scheme as those who have been involved in ALI inspections – perhaps as a nominee or an associate inspector – quality managers, those who contribute to quality networks and sharing good practice in the sector, or who have been responsible for promoting quality improvement and implementing quality assurance systems within their organisations.

Tricia Williamson, director of management development at the Chartered Management Institute, said: “Properly focused and appropriately delivered management development programmes make a significant difference to the performance of individuals and their organisations.

"These awards provide a welcome opportunity to recognise the efforts of those people responsible for delivering development programmes. They also send out a clear message that continuing professional development is an integral part of successful business planning."
