Allianz Cornhill joins forces with Chartered Management Institute to manage change

Employees at insurers Allianz Cornhill have the opportunity to enhance their management and leadership skills through a partnership with the Chartered Management Institute.

The agreement is designed to enable managers throughout the organisation to attend tailored training programmes under the broad theme of ‘change management’. The programme aims to develop skills in four key areas: managing change and influencing culture, project management, personal effectiveness and leadership.

Philip Gennoy, Allianz Cornhill HR Director, said: “The programme served as a catalyst to stimulate debate and action around the change agenda, within and across teams. It has given us the opportunity to adopt a new performance culture, but above all, it has also meant that change management has equal standing alongside the day-to-day business agenda. And what this means is that our customers benefit from a strong service today and the knowledge that we can meet their needs in the future.”

The programme has been designed for managers across all levels in Allianz Cornhill to help ensure that change can be managed effectively and implemented across the whole organisation.

Programme participants will be encouraged to draw on work-based issues so that skills learnt can be applied to experience. They will have an opportunity to test their skills in a workshop environment, debate best practice techniques and undertake practical work-focused exercises.

Tricia Williamson, director of management development at the Chartered Management Institute, said: “Change is a pervasive feature of modern business life. Managers and their staff are required to adjust at unprecedented levels to maintain competitive advantage, but change management can succeed or fail because of a lack of understanding about the strategic reasons for change or a lack of willingness to carry it through.”
