According to the ICAEW, pass rates were good for all exams and students particularly impressed in Audit & Assurance and Accounting papers. The Professional Stage of the ACA examination structure is designed to test understanding of the concepts and principles underlying accountancy and the giving of accountancy advice. The ICAEW says that it also sets a context of ethical behaviour for students and the foundations for a wide range of technical knowledge. Six papers are sat at Professional Stage of the ACA: Accounting, Audit & Assurance, Business Finance, Business Management and Taxation. Commenting on the latest results, ICAEW Education & Training head of operations, Aude Leonetti, said: "I am pleased to see that the March candidates have performed to the high standard we have come to expect. It is worth reiterating though that students should be prepared to answer questions across the full range of the syllabus." The pass rates for the papers sat in March 2005 are: Audit & Assurance (82.3%), Financial Reporting (77.6%), Business Management (81.9%), Accounting (93.8%), Taxation (76.7%) and Business Finance (79.5%).
