The programmes are accompanied by two publications – ‘Working with you to manage change in the NHS’ and ‘Working with you to manage change in local government’. Rita Donaghy, Acas Chair said: "The current extensive reform programme has far-reaching implications for the people who work in the health service and local government, particularly the relationships between employees, unions and employers. "The work that we carry out with organisations is always based a joint approach aimed at improving employment relations. The strong reputation that Acas has for impartiality and independence means that we are respected and trusted by employers, employees and trade unions alike." Acas has led a number of projects within public sector organisations across the country - including over 50 NHS trusts and 30 local authorities over the past year. The work covers the range of employment issues, from attendance management to managing bullying and harassment and joint partnership working. Acas is also working with the Department of Health, the health trade unions and Health People Management Association to develop a dedicated alternative dispute resolution package for NHS trusts. Donaghy added: "Our involvement in the public services reform programme is not just in health and local government. For example, we are working closely with the Universities and Colleges Employers Association and the trade unions to help put in place its new national agreement. "We have also been closely involved in a review to develop new police disciplinary arrangements and are partnering with the Health and Safety Executive to help implement the Stress Management Standards."
