First IDM-qualified digital marketers graduate

A graduation ceremony for the first marketing practitioners to achieve the Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) Diploma in Digital Marketing and IDM Certificate in Digital Marketing took place on 2nd March at Google's London offices.

The IDM launched the qualifications last year with the support of sponsor Google.

A special prize was presented to top student Anna Walker who won an all expenses paid trip to visit Google's HQ in Mountain View.

Presenting the prize, Google's director of European marketing programs, Lorraine Twohill, said: "The Internet and its effect on communication, commerce and consumption has had a profound impact on advertising.

"Today online advertising is the fastest growing advertising medium. These IDM qualifications have been created to address demand for skilled digital marketing experts caused by this rapid expansion."

The IDM Diploma and Certificate in Digital Marketing are supported by the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

Neil Morris, deputy managing director of the IDM said: "We are grateful to Google and the IAB for their support, without which these world-class qualifications could not have been developed.

"I congratulate those pioneering students who are the first to hold these new qualifications, which I know will serve them - and their organisations - well."
