Speaking about the launch, Ray Jones, head of communications at The Chartered Institute of Marketing, said: "Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is becoming an increasingly essential need for marketing practitioners. If you look at professionals employed in fields like accounting, human resources and software programming, they are all aware of the need for constantly updating skills and keeping track of the latest industry developments. "However, a significant proportion of marketers have yet to fully appreciate the importance of a professional qualification, not only for their own career development and personal earnings capability, but also for the organisations that employ them." "The 'Get Serious' campaign has been launched in order to bring home to UK marketers the need for raising the level of professional marketing standards. Qualifications are a proof to employers that marketers are serious and committed about their profession, and that professional marketing skills do make a difference to an organisations bottom-line." According to the CIM's latest Rewards Survey, there is a direct correlation between the level of professional qualification and the salaries earned. The CIM says director-level marketers with CIM qualifications earn on average 8.5% more then their non-qualified counterparts. The Chartered Institute of Marketing offers a range of marketing qualifications, including the 'Introductory Certificate in Marketing', 'Professional Certificate in Marketing', 'Professional Diploma in Marketing' and the 'Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing'. The Institute also offers the 'CAM Diploma in Marketing Communications', 'Diploma in Tourism Marketing' and the 'e-Marketing Award'.
