Rick Firth, BTEC Director at Edexcel, with John Bolton, Director of Social Inclusion and Housing, Coventry City Council in attendance, presented the certificates to the twelve students at a ceremony yesterday in Coventry Councils Chambers. Coventry Social Services chose the new e-Learning BTEC Certificate in Management Studies as part of their approach to achieving National Care Standards qualifications. Learners working towards the NVQ Level 4 in Care will be using the BTEC qualification as part evidence to achieve this award. "The e-Learning BTEC Certificate in Management Studies proves that soft skills can be taught well by e-Learning - it is truly engaging and has a real impact on the learner" said Lynne Bassett NVQ Training Manager at Coventry Social Services. "Now we can use the e-Learning BTEC to improve the soft skills that our staff require to manage and lead effectively. I believe one of the most important elements of the programme is that it combines tried and trusted learning techniques and materials such as tutorial and printed material with the very best of modern technology. We are satisfied that we have an improved management and leadership course at reduced cost in terms of time away from the operational job, less time spent on the learning materials with no detriment to understanding, and reduced travel time and cost." Dennis Quilter, Founder and Deputy Chairman of AdVal Group plc, commented "The use of e-learning and e-assessment in all areas of the private and public sectors is increasing at an impressive rate. The BTEC CMS e-learning application is another example of how flexible, efficient and sophisticated e-learning can be designed to meet the needs of organisations and business in all sectors. We congratulate the students graduating today and look forward to our continued work with all bodies concerned in making sure this e-learning BTEC Certificate in Management Studies Qualification goes on from strength to strength for future generations of students." BTEC Academy CMS modules, which can be studied independently or as part of a programme building up to the BTEC CMS full qualification, are available as both an online option and on CD-ROM and can be supported by the online Bloomsbury Business Directory.
