The portal is being used by members of Vodafone UK's corporate sales team and is designed to provide a fully self-managed learning environment supported by detailed competency and skills management tools and full access to the latest information and training on sales strategies, new products, services and technologies. In addition to designing and building the portal's infrastructure, RWD worked with Vodafone UK to create assessment tools and eLearning content for the learning portal. The portal is designed to deliver custom content to employees based on their specific job roles and requirements. In this way, employees only have access to the content and courses that are important to their jobs. The portal also administers assessment tools, which make it possible to assess the skill and competency levels of employees. Managers can then use the portal to check on the progress of employees. RWD will continue to work with Vodafone UK on an ongoing basis to add content and increase the functionality of the portal. "We required a solution that would enable us to organise information for our employees across multiple sites," said Craig Needham, eLearning manager at Vodafone UK. "Rather than buying a generic off-the-shelf solution, we chose RWD because they provided a tailored, industry-specific solution and approach. RWD worked with us very closely in a consultancy role to develop the entire learning portal project around our business processes. Now, using laptops equipped with Vodafone 3G Mobile Connect data cards, the Vodafone sales force in the UK has high-speed, secure access to the online Vodafone Sales Academy - anytime, anywhere." Beth Ann Pelegan, division director of the Applied Technology Solutions Group, RWD Technologies, said: "We are pleased to have had the opportunity to deliver the eLearning portal to Vodafone UK. Our goal was to design, deliver, and host a completely custom, flexible Web portal environment that could support the core competencies of Vodafone end users by providing access to well-organised content."
