According to a University of Manchesters Institute of Science and Technology survey, one in four people said they suffered bullying at work in the last five years. Challenging Behaviour's makers say that when bullying and harassment occurs, organisations are at risk in two areas:
The Andrea Adams Trust works with employers and employees to tackle workplace bullying through its national helpline, publications and consultancy and training programmes. Lyn Witheridge, Chief Executive of The Andrea Adams Trust said, "We were delighted to contribute towards the content of this powerful resource. Inappropriate behaviour at work is ruthlessly destructive and no organisation can afford to tolerate it. Challenging Behaviour highlights every employers duty of care to all employees. It makes clear managers responsibilities and helps them to recognise the difference between assertive leadership and bullying. In addition, it shows employees what they can do if they are on the receiving end of bullying." Bryan DeAth, Managing Director at BDP Media Ltd (producers of Skill Boosters learning resources) commented, "Challenging Behaviour forms part of our diversity suite of training resources to help organisations embrace diversity in the workplace and comply with legislation. Like our latest course, Disability Confident, Challenging Behaviour offers accessible options such as keyboard navigation, subtitles for the video elements, colour scheme preferences and it is compatible with screen reader software."
