Atrium achieve SCORM 2004 compliance for vcContact

Atrium Communications has achieved SCORM 2004 conformance for its vcContact Online multimedia-based training product. Atrium say that this will allow vcContact to be set up and amended more easily and quickly, enabling customers to determine which training modules employees access, and when they can access them.

The SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) standards are designed to help ensure that training solutions can be delivered through a common interface and that their content is in an approved format.

"SCORM compliance is now essential in the design and delivery of an e-learning solution," commented Phil Dodds, Group Sales Director, Atrium Communications. "As the demand for online training grows, it is increasingly important that there are standards which ensure consistency and quality, which is why we have pursued this new level of SCORM conformance."

Atrium say they achieved SCORM conformance after re-configuring vcContact - altering the interface and formatting the content - to ensure compliance with the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) guidelines and assessments.

"We have gone through a stage of re-configuration, but this has not affected the way in which the system functions," added Dodds. "It still integrates information from audio, text and Web-based inputs, as well as video footage. It can still be delivered to any employee's desktop, and accessed at any time.

"The effect new SCORM standards will have is that the Learning Management Systems within businesses can control which training content employees can access at any one time - rather than allowing access to every programme on the system - in order to more effectively structure and monitor their development programmes."
