e-Learning programme wins IVCA award

The e-learning resource ‘Disability Confident’ has won the silver award in the International Visual Communication Association’s interactive media publishing category.

Skill Boosters, part of the BDP Media Group, launched Disability Confident in March 2004 in partnership with the Employers’ Forum on Disability.

Susan Scott-Parker, Chief Executive of the Employers’ Forum on Disability commented, "There are 10 million disabled people in the UK alone and 5 million people plus, working for members of the Forum.

"This resource is making it easier for every business to communicate to each and every employee, the company’s commitment to employing disabled employees and welcoming disabled customers.

“This partnership has set a new benchmark in the provision of authoritative and practical training which helps raise employee and management disability confidence.”

Barclays, BT, Department for Work and Pensions, Inland Revenue, Post Office Ltd and Remploy are among the organisations that have purchased licenses of ‘Disability Confident’ to train their 650,000 employees.

Bryan De’Ath, Managing Director BDP Media Ltd said, “To ensure the content is relevant, engaging and real, we worked with the best subject matter experts, steering committees from both public and private sector organisations and we have featured as many disabled people in the resource as possible. Lastly, to ensure Disability Confident is totally accessible, we have included preferences such as subtitles, keyboard navigation, adjustable colour screens as well as audio descriptions and screen reader compatibility options.”
