John Weston, Chairman of the Ufi Board, said: "Linda makes a welcome addition to our team. Linda's experience in developing and working in such a large organisation and her commitment to work-based training and skills will be invaluable as Ufi focuses on growing a commercial income and targeting businesses of all sizes. We are shaping the company to make a real and positive impact on skills levels in the UK, and in turn on levels of national productivity." Welcoming the appointment, education and skills secretary Ruth Kelly added: "Ufi's success depends on the quality of its people and leadership and its ability to inspire people taking their important first step back into learning, especially those who have missed out earlier on in their education. It must also increasingly encourage existing learners to develop the skills they need to boost their employability and the competitiveness of UK businesses."
