Parity wins Fire Service College portal contract

IT services provider Parity has won a contract with the Fire Service College to develop an online communication portal.

The new website will include taster training courses and community features such as discussion forums and bulletin boards.

The project is part of a larger programme to develop e-learning to enhance the college's portfolio of training for the UK Fire and Rescue Services sector. The portal is also expected to help the college broaden its reach and to foster communication and collaboration between special interest groups.

Maureen Kelly of the Fire Service College said: "By generating interest within the Fire and Rescue Services community, we hope to retain website users and attract new visitors to the site. This project will be the first phase of an e-learning project and will aid in our communications with fire fighters and the general public."

Parity is also providing the Fire Service College with an online 'Fire-Citizen' e-learning course with the aim of enabling the Fire Service College to provide basic e-skills training to its users in advance of the full scale e-learning roll out.

Rob Banathy, Public Sector Manager at Parity, said: "The project demonstrates a joined-up approach to government planning and will also save tax payers' money, as it will re-use the architecture that was procured for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister's e-fire national portal also being developed by Parity."
