"We are a fast growing company and it is important that our HR processes keep up with this growth, which is why we are introducing new processes for personal development and performance management," said Denise Cording, HR business partner for learning & development at AOL UK. "The first step is to educate our employees about the processes, why we are introducing them and how they will affect individuals." Brightwave says the programme includes a short multimedia trailer to raise awareness, a 30-minute e-learning course using a storyline to cover the key topics, a quiz to check knowledge, an evaluation questionnaire, and an interactive process map as a performance support tool. Charles Gould, managing director for Brightwave, said: "Our experience tells us that in fast changing environments such as the industry that AOL works in, it's not sufficient to focus solely on providing an e-learning course in isolation." "It's vital to consider the bigger picture and how to best position and support the training piece before and after its launch and completion; in other words to adopt a holistic approach to the whole learning experience from start to finish. In this case, for example, we created interactive process maps as a performance support tool to bridge the learning-doing gap."
