The vapour compression cycle module is the first in a series of e-learning courses that will build towards an international programme for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration engineers. Graham Stuart, managing director - operations at Star Refrigeration, said: "We operate a 'centre of excellence' at Star through a wealth of intellectual knowledge gained over many years. Our engineers undertake an average of 60 hours professional development each year and we are increasingly being asked to train engineers from other organisations. "We believe e-learning is an important step forward and, through our new portfolio, we aim to play a fundamental role in helping engineers across the industry to reach levels of accreditation through new and innovative methods." The new e-learning module on the vapour compression cycle will be followed by further modules on gas properties & laws; pressure & pressure measurement; and thermodynamics. These are currently in production and are expected to be available in early September 2006. Access to the learning material will be via a dedicated website - www.elearning-training.com - which will be launched during August 2006. Mike Ditchburn, managing director of Bourne Training said: "Through their entrepreneurial approach, Star has developed a unique learning environment for refrigeration engineers. "The modules are designed for learners who may not have used e-learning before and are structured to introduce technical concepts in a visual and interactive way."
