The new learning pods are workstations dedicated to staff training and development that give staff access to a variety of learning tools. These include:
HSBC's head of learning and development Ann Ewing said: "The launch of learning pods is a major initiative in the drive to enhance the development and career progression of our people. "In a busy, fast moving world, we need to bring learning opportunities to people at their finger tips - when and how they need them. Pods bring learning to the workplace in 1200 locations around the country and are a superb resource in helping our people to reach their full potential. "Being able to roll out training over a wide area is extremely exciting and means we will be able to respond more quickly to changes in customer needs and, in the long run, continue to improve customer service." Julie Harding, HSBC HR director, stressed the importance of personal and professional growth for all staff. She said: "We aspire to be the best place to work and continually encouraging people to learn and develop is central to this. The pace of change in the workplace is rapid and it is essential that we enable our employees to upgrade and update their skills on a regular basis."
