Industry leaders at Learning Solutions 2004 conference

Industry leaders and high profile case studies will be taking centre stage at the Learning Solutions Exhibition and Conference taking place at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London on 25-26 May 2004.

The free opening address will be delivered by Gunnar Brückner, CEO, Coaching Platform and former Chief Learning Offficer, United Nations Development Programme and will look at what informal learning is and how organisations can benefit from harnessing its potential. On day two, Professor John Stephenson, Head of the International Centre for Learner Managed Learning at Middlesex University, will present the free keynote address, tackling the subject of improving the learner's experience.

Focusing on the practicalities of implementing integrated solutions and highlighting the latest successful innovations in people development, as well as potential pitfalls, the conference programme covers a wealth of crucial learning issues including:

  • Proving the business case to justify training expenditure
  • Ensuring learners are motivated and supported
  • Employing flexible learning
  • Inspiring learners through engaging content
  • Integrating e-learning as part of a blended approach
  • Enhancing company performance through management and leadership training
  • Is learning for everyone achievable?

Among the host of leading edge companies presenting case studies are Diageo, Siemens, Sun Microsystems, Channel 4, BAE Systems, Hewlett-Package, Next Directory, National Care Standards Commission, Oxfam and the British Red Cross.

The programme concludes each day with free addresses. On 25 May, Professor Bob Fryer, Chief Executive of NHSU - the corporate university of the NHS, dedicated to encouraging lifelong learning in the health and social care sector - addresses the question "Is learning for everyone achievable?". On day two Keith Duckitt of the Learning & Skills Council's (LSC) national office closes the event with a consideration of how organisations can gain funding from the LSC.
