Home > News > February 2004 > 13-Feb-2004 Speakers announced for The British Learning Association Conference 2004The inaugural conference of the British Learning Association (BLA) is taking place at the Royal Institution, London on Wednesday 31st March 2004. Guest speakers include; Dr Peter Honey, one of the worlds leading experts on learning, who will share his thoughts about learning styles, learners' needs and the nature of learning. Alison West, Chief Executive - National Extension College and Neil Lasher, Managing Director - Trainer1, will open the conference with a provocative session entitled 'Adult Learning - does anyone know what they're talking about?' and will address some of the key educational and instructional principles that inspire and support successful adult learning. Other contributors include; Charles Jennings, Head of Global Learning - Reuters, Prof David Birchall, Director of Research & Educational Technologies - Henley Management College, Dr Majid Al-Kader - Logicom Training Solutions, Judith Christian-Carter, Director - Effective Learning Solutions and Bryan Hopkins, Consultant - Walkgrove Ltd. Under the working title 'Advancing techniques and technologies for learning', the BLA Conference will provide delegates with an opportunity to; explore how materials can contribute to achieving the 'wow factor', consider the essential needs of learners in the production of materials and programmes, look at the different approaches to evaluation that prove the benefits of education, learning and training and ensure that principles of learning design are not forgotten, ignored or misunderstood. The conference is designed to bring together professionals in all sectors of learning, development, education and training in the UK and Internationally, who are shaping the learning agenda in 2004.
