Centre for Excellence in Leadership holds its first annual conference

The Centre for Excellence in Leadership – the leadership college for managers and leaders working in post-16 education and training – is running its first national conference on 30-31 March in Birmingham.

Speakers will present some of the latest thinking on leadership, from academic research to what’s happening in the field. Lynne Sedgmore, Director and Chief Executive Designate, will present her vision for the Centre for Excellence in Leadership in its first year. The spearkers include:

  • Alan Johnson, MP, Minister for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education (Wednesday morning)
  • Jane Williams, Director of Teaching and Learning and Head of the Standards Unit – Department for Education and Skills (Tuesday morning)
  • Professor John Burgoyne, Professor of Management Learning, University of Central Lancashire (Tuesday afternoon)
  • Professor Kim James, Director of Cranfield Executive Doctorate, Cranfield University (Tuesday afternoon)
  • Nigel Benwell, Head of Executive Development, Lloyds TSB Plc (Wednesday morning)

There will be two sessions of workshop sessions at the conference on Tuesday afternoon. The first session will focus on research and the second on case studies of good practice.
