Last October the government introduced new legislation outlawing discrimination on the grounds of sexuality and religion. The seminar will examine what the implications have been so far for employers, how the changes can affect a business as well as practical guidance about what action HR teams should be taking. Attendance is free of charge and speakers will include Ruth Harvey, a Solicitor of Employment Law at Hammonds and Eden Brown Director Heather Salway. A workshop will be held by Eden Brown Consultant Robert Lumholst-Smith in the form of an interactive exercise designed to make participants think about how they discriminate in their own lives as well as providing them with a useful tool to use in the workplace. "It is incredible that however much we might pride ourselves as being diversity aware, we can still discriminate in any number of conscious or subconscious ways", said Salway. "This new seminar will highlight these trends as well as provide the responsible employer with a synopsis of the issues and alterations that they should be thinking about to comply with the new legislation." The breakfast will take place at 9:00 AM (with the briefing and Q+A to follow from 9:30 to 10:30 AM) at Tower 42, 25 Old Broad Street, London EC2N IHQ on Tuesday 21st September. For more information call the Final Word team on 020 7309 1300.
