The conference, which takes place on the 4th and 5th November at the Novotel, York, is sponsored by the Learning and Skills Council, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, Edexcel, City & Guilds and GlaxoSmithKline. The event has two main aims: to being together those who influence policy on higher vocational learning with those who influence practice; and to consult on the concept of a national validation service.

Other speakers joining Mr Tomlinson include:

John Mumford OBE, Vice President of BP Oil, UK Region
Carl Gilleard, Chief Executive Officer, Association of Graduate Recruiters

Professor Derek Longhurst, Director, Foundation Degree Forward

Dr Roger Brown, Principal, Southampton Institute
Professor Geoff Layer, Director, Action for Access
Dr Henry Kelly, Chemistry Operations Manager, GlaxoSmithKline

"In addition to being a valuable networking opportunity for delegates, the conference will be a platform for UVAC members and others with an interest in higher vocational learning to make their voices heard," said Professor Simon Roodhouse, UVAC’s Chief Executive.

"I know that our delegates will be looking forward to sharing their views with Mr Tomlinson following the publication of his final report this morning and I hope that all those interested in debating the concept of a national validation service will also be able to join us at this event."
