Keynote speakers confirmed for first FSSC conference

Ron Sandler, the man behind the 2002 Sandler Review: Medium and Long-Term Retail Savings in the UK, and Andrew Whittaker, general counsel to the board at the Financial Services Authority, have been confirmed as keynote speakers for the Financial Services Skills Council's (FSSC) first-ever conference.

Sandler and Whittaker join a line-up of industry contributors which also includes Sir David Prosser of Legal & General, Stuart Bernau of Nationwide and Gary Withers from Norwich Union Life.

The full-day conference, 'The Productivity Challenge', is designed for financial services firms, education and training providers and all those involved with the financial services industry. It takes place on 14 October 2005 at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster, London.

The relationship between productivity, skills development and leadership are recurring themes in a conference agenda which includes presentations from US expert Dr Laurie Bassi on improving your organisation's return on investing in people, and from Stuart Bernau, commercial & treasury director at Nationwide and Nigel Crouch of the DTI Innovation Group, on what makes an inspiring leader.

Peter Williams, head of industry development, AEGON UK, will share his views on the challenges of attracting new talent into the industry. In the Financial Services Authority slot, Andrew Whittaker will be mapping out the road to lighter regulation.
