On day one of the Conference, Cathy Ham, General Manager at BT Conferencing, will offer advice on reducing the environmental impact of training. Delegates will be asked to consider how 'green' their training is and be given guidelines on utilising resources to make a positive impact. In addition, Cathy will be discussing how organisations can create an environmentally-conscious workforce and communicate CSR policies through learning and development. This year, the event organisers say they are taking part in The Woodland Trust’s 'Dedicate a Tree' scheme where each delegate to the conference will have a tree planted in their name within a dedicated UK forest project, to help reduce the travel and venue carbon emissions generated by the event. Conference delegates are to receive a 'Dedicate a Tree' gift pack which includes a certificate and map of the chosen forest indicating where their tree is planted. Alison Church, conference manager, said: "Learning and development professionals can make a valuable contribution to their organisations through the introduction of practices which will limit the environmental impact of training. Delegates to the conference will leave the event with vital information on how they can make a positive impact."
