Free training workshops at ICFM annual conference

The Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) is repeating the format of last year by integrating free training workshops as part of this year's annual members' national conference.

Roddy Graham, chairman of the ICFM, said: "All members are under considerable time and cost pressures and, following on from the very positive reaction we received from members to last years' free training workshops, Council felt there was considerable value in organising, as an integral part of the annual members' national conference, further free practical workshops to help members address today's challenges."

In the first workshop of the day - 'Creating the right environment' - attendees will be asked to develop at least five ideas to stimulate and encourage suppliers to deliver truly outstanding service and also develop at least five ways of encouraging more active participation by drivers in the management of cost.

In the second workshop - 'Getting a better return on the fleet investment' - participants will be asked to develop at least five initiatives which will reduce the overall cost of cars used for business travel and also identify at least five ideas to reduce the cost of cars provided principally for staff remuneration. In addition to the training workshops, there will be three keynote speeches during the conference.

Sarah Sillars, executive chair of the Institute of the Motor Industry, will deliver the first keynote speech, focusing on education and training. The second keynote speech will be made by Adrian Walsh, secretary and director at RoadSafe. Rounding off the day will be Kevin Gaskell, CEO of Drive Development, who will talk about 'Success in a difficult environment'.

The annual members' national conference/workshop takes place on Wednesday July 14 at the BMW MINI Plant at Cowley, near Oxford.

For more details and to complete an online conference/workshop attendance form, members should visit the ICFM website at www.icfm.com. The deadline for registration is 8 July 2010.
