The results, which will be published at the end of the year, help the industry to identify changes in the labour force, chart areas of growth and decline and target investment in skills development to ensure industry needs are met. The survey forms will be distributed to company Chief Executives and HR managers via trade associations and trade publications and an electronic version will be available for completion at www.skillset.org/census This is the fifth consecutive year Skillset has profiled the workforce, broken down by the number of employees, freelancers, women, ethnic minorities and disabled people working on Census Day. Clive Jones, Chief Executive, ITV News, and Skillset Chair, said: "The Census gives us a snapshot of the shape and size of our industry, charting expanding and declining areas and highlighting emerging trends. It provides a picture of where we are today which is invaluable in planning how we meet the challenges of tomorrow's market." Skillset is the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries covering Broadcast, Film, Video, Interactive Media and Photo Imaging. Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) are licensed by the Secretary of State for Education and Skills and by Ministers in the devolved administrations to tackle the skills and productivity challenge by sector. SSCs are independent, UK wide organisations developed by groups of influential employers in industry or business sectors of economic or strategic significance. SSCs are employer-led and actively involve trade unions, professional bodies and other stakeholders in the sector.
