Worts - who has been HR manager at Skipton since 1993 - began his career with Forte Hotels in 1983 and, following spells at Ross-on-Wye (Herefordshire) and Heathrow, worked at their head office as brand personnel manager and regional training manager, before moving north in 1993. During his 11-year service with Skipton, Worts helped the Society become the first organisation in North Yorkshire to achieve the Investors in People (IiP) award and, more recently, helped the Society achieve the IiP Leadership and Management Model National Standard in 2003. Commenting on his new appointment, Worts said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 11 years with the Society and, during that time, have seen it grow into a significant player within the UK financial services market. "At Skipton people play a key part in our success and we are justifiably proud of our track record in developing staff and creating excellent career opportunities. I am delighted to be given this opportunity to build on the excellent work that we have started and to play a part in ensuring that the Society continues to go from strength to strength in the future."
