Notice of the licence for GoSkills to act as the Sector Skills Council was received this week and Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP, Secretary of State for Education and Skills, will preside over the official launch on Thursday November 11 2004 at the Meridian Business Centre, London City Airport. "Our sector is faced with some serious challenges," said Chris Moyes, GoSkills Chairman. "Many of its workforce are nearing retirement age, so the pool from which to draw talent is shrinking. There are new technological and legislative demands to meet, as well as higher expectations of customer care and service. This means we also need new leadership and managerial expertise combined with tailored training and qualifications that will match real business needs.
