CIPFA announce exam results for new modular qualification

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has announded the results of its December 2004 exam sitting. Candidates were taken exams under CIPFA's new modular Professional Accountancy Qualification (PAQ).

At the Certificate stage - equivalent to foundation and professional 1 under the old syllabus - a higher pass rate was achieved in December 2004 than in December 2003 for three out of four subjects. CIPFA say the the first sitting of the new Diploma level subjects (equivalent to professional 2) was very promising with students achieving a strong pass rate in all three new subjects. Two hundred and one (56%) students passed the P3 stage, which consisted of the Project and Finance and Management Case Study.

Ken Gill, Education and Training director at CIPFA, said, "This is a really solid set of results and an encouraging start to the new PAQ. Last year was a significant year for CIPFA. We developed the largest number of learning materials and held the most assessments in the institute's history. We also introduced a number of fast-track schemes and saw the student base continue to grow. I would like to congratulate students for their dedication and commend lecturers for their skill in implementing these important changes to our qualification."
