ALP welcomes 400th member

The Association of Learning Providers has signed up its 400th member.

Martin Dunford, the Association’s chairman, presented a membership certificate to Marie Harris, a director of the Sussex Council of Training Providers (SCTP) at the ALP’s annual conference in Birmingham last week.

SCTP represents over 40 training organisations in Sussex that offer apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships (e2e), NVQs and other types of training. Its membership is made up of local and national training organisations as well as local colleges.

Presenting the certificate, Martin Dunford, said: "I am delighted to welcome SCTP as the 400th member of the Association of Learning Providers. The past two years have seen ALP grow significantly as a body that successfully represents the interests of vocational learning providers, large and small.

"Our membership now reaches across most business sectors and all of the regions are well represented. ALP is in a very strong position to advocate to a new team of government ministers the most effective ways of advancing a skills strategy that is so vital for our social cohesion and economic competitiveness."

Marie Harris said: "It is testament to the impact which ALP has made in government circles that ‘broad-church’ training organisations such as SCTP want to become active members of it."
