GoSkills launches employer engagement campaign

GoSkills, the Sector Skills Council for the passenger transport sector, has launched a new campaign designed to help employers in the sector to improve their skills, performance and profitability.

Peter Huntington, GoSkills' Chief Executive, said: "Opening Doors is all about what we do. We have a team of regional business advisers based across the country who provide practical advice on business issues, skills, qualifications, training and funding opportunities direct to employers and operators."

"We also carry out research to identify the skills needs of the sector's industries and investigate issues affecting the sector such as recruitment and retention. Opening doors to opportunities and resources and opening minds to new concepts is our goal for this campaign."

According to GoSkills, the Opening Doors campaign goals are to:

  • Raise awareness among employers, operators and individuals of the services GoSkills can deliver to them
  • Improve business performance by helping employers and operators identify specific training solutions and helping them obtain resources for individual skills development
  • Work with industries to influence and inform the standards, qualifications and training relevant to the sector
  • Raise awareness among decision makers of the skills issues affecting employers and operators

The campaign was launched at last week's Integrated Transport Conference & Exhibition at the ICC Birmingham.
