The organisation says the logistics industry should submit nominations for any organisation that employs an apprentice who's made a real difference to their business in the past year, or any employer who's shown a massive commitment to Apprenticeships and work-based learning for young people. Dr Mick Jackson, director of skills development at Skills for Logistics, said: "The LSC Apprenticeship Awards recognise individuals and organisations that are committed to Continuous Professional Development and the future workforce of the industry. "These awards are open to all sectors and this will give us a real chance to get the logistics industry acknowledged in its own right as a vital sector to the UK economy. "By nominating for these awards organisations will be given the opportunity to showcase the achievements of their workforce, and be recognised as progressive companies that place a value on their employees through demonstrating a clear commitment to their career progression." The awards are organised by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and the deadline for entries is Friday 24 February. The award categories include Employer of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, Advanced Apprentice of the Year, Personal Achiever of the Year and a brand-new category, Young Apprentice of the Year. This year's Apprenticeship Awards ceremony, hosted by LSC chairman Chris Banks, takes place on Thursday 15 June at The London Hilton on Park Lane. Entries for the Apprenticeship Awards can be submitted by apprentices, employers or training providers. Applications can be made through the local LSC or online - nomination forms can be downloaded from the Awards website at www.apprenticeships.org.uk/awards Training Reference is not responsible for the content of external Internet sites.
