New board appointment at Creative & Cultural Skills

Creative & Cultural Skills, the Sector Skills Council for the creative industries, has appointed Tess Alps, Chairman of PHD Group UK, to their UK-wide Board of Trustees.

Tess Alps will be representing the advertising industry, and joins other industry figures on the Board, who represent all of the sectors within Creative & Cultural Skills' remit of advertising, crafts, cultural heritage, design, music and performing, visual and literary arts. The Board chairman is Tony Hall, chief executive at the Royal Opera House.

The Board meets four times a year to discuss the strategic direction and management of Creative & Cultural Skills, as well as provide support for projects currently underway such as Creative Knowledge Lab, Creative Choices and the Creative Apprenticeship Programme.

"Developing all creative businesses is dependent on developing the skills and knowledge of our people. I am honoured to represent my industry and anxious to do everything I can for this important and ambitious body." said Tess Alps.

Tom Bewick, chief executive of Creative & Cultural Skills said, "On behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff we all feel considerably honoured that Tess has decided to play an active role in furthering the cause of our skills campaign.

"Her experience and commitment to workforce diversity, in particular, will provide the Sector Skills Council with a very vocal champion as we look to extend opportunity to a wider talent pool across advertising and the wider creative and cultural industries."
