Skills for Logistics launches affiliation scheme

Skills for Logistics, the Sector Skills Council for the freight logistics industries, is calling on companies to help shape the development of the industry by signing up to an affiliation scheme.

The scheme was launched at this year's Skills for Logistics Annual Conference for Logistics Employers, which was held on 27 September and attracted over 100 delegates.

In exchange for agreeing to support Skills for Logistics' objectives and taking an active involvement in related activities, the Sector Skills Council says affiliate members will enjoy benefits including free copies of research reports, use of an affiliate logo, dedicated training advice, discounted rates for attendance at Skills for Logistics' events and the right to propose nominations for membership of the Skills for Logistics' Board. The Scheme is free to join.

Lucinda Ward, marketing and communications director for Skills for Logistics, said: "The Scheme is a great opportunity for logistics companies to get more involved with shaping the direction of our industry.

"Affiliation brings with it a range of benefits, including early access to our research, advanced notice of breaking news and events, and many opportunities to be involved in the consultation process.

"We're delighted with the interest already expressed in the Scheme and were particularly pleased by the positive feedback we received from delegates at our conference."

One of the first companies to sign up to the Affiliation Scheme is GeoPost, who accepted their affiliate award from James Billingham, West Midlands regional manager for Skills for Logistics, on September 26th.

Kay Phillips, CEO of GeoPost said: "We're delighted to be one of the Scheme's founding members and welcome the opportunity to become more closely involved in the consultation process."
